The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe has rejected an urgent application by the AfD parliamentary group against the 2-G-plus rule in the Bundestag.

The court announced on Thursday that the applicants had not explained that a provisional regulation to ward off serious disadvantages or for another important reason in the public interest was urgently required.

A similar urgent application had already been rejected in January.

At that time it was about taking part in the Holocaust memorial hour, which MPs who were not vaccinated and had not recovered from Covid-19 also wanted to take part in.

Now it was about the general decree, which prescribes the rules for the Bundestag until next Sunday.

The court rejected a provisional arrangement.

The AfD had argued with a "two-class system".

However, the court could not understand this: after all, all MPs are subject to the same rules, it explained.

In addition, it is only a transitional arrangement because of the pandemic.

The MEPs concerned could continue to take part in plenary debates via microphones in the hall.

It has not yet been decided whether the general decree fundamentally violates the rights of AfD MPs.
