China News Agency, Beijing, March 9. On March 8, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi at request.

  Wang Yi strongly condemned the recent serious terrorist attack in Peshawar, Pakistan, and once again expressed sincere condolences to the Pakistani side, saying that China firmly supports the Pakistani side's efforts to counter terrorism and maintain national security and stability.

  Wang Yi said that during Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to China in February this year and his attendance at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the leaders of China and Pakistan had in-depth communication on overall and strategic issues, drawing a blueprint for the future of bilateral relations. The direction is clear.

China looks forward to working with Pakistan to promote the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen strategic mutual trust and cooperation, and work together to cope with international and regional changes.

  Qureshi congratulated China on overcoming the impact of the epidemic and successfully hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics, saying that Pakistan-China friendship is the cornerstone of Pakistan's diplomacy and a guarantee of regional peace and stability.

The Pakistani side is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further deepen Pakistan-China cooperation, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

  The two sides exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine.

Wang Yi expounded China's principled position.

Qureshi said that the Pakistani side calls on Russia and Ukraine to resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomatic means as soon as possible, and strive to avoid further escalation of the situation.

  The two sides also exchanged views on the Afghan issue and agreed to strengthen communication and coordination, give play to the unique advantages and roles of neighboring countries, and make positive contributions to Afghanistan's peace and reconstruction.
