His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, approved the general census project for population, housing and establishments in the emirate for the year 2023, which the Ras Al Khaimah Center for Statistics and Studies will implement within the “Emirate’s Vision 2030” based on meeting the requirements of comprehensive sustainable social and economic development .
His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah stressed the importance of the general census project, for its essential role in setting future and strategic plans for work, and its contribution to the prosperity and growth of various vital sectors in Ras Al Khaimah, in line with the comprehensive development directions of the UAE.
His Highness pointed out that the population census and statistical data are an important tool in keeping pace with the country's march for the next 50 years, achieving the country's ambitious visions and goals, and enhancing its global competitiveness, in addition to its role in providing accurate data that enables decision makers, agencies, institutions and companies to formulate policies on strong scientific foundations.
His Highness said that the comprehensive census contributes to employing capabilities and qualifying national cadres in various sectors of the future, and enhances participation in developing possible scenarios in various economic, health, educational and social fields, as well as establishing strategic relations between the public and private sectors.
The first field phase for collecting census data will be launched in the last quarter of the current year 2022, based on the latest technical means and the best international practices, provided that the second phase of the census, which is the actual enumeration phase of the population, will start in the first quarter of 2023, and in In both phases, the census field work teams will visit all areas of the Emirate, including buildings, housing, families, and facilities.
In order to implement the project’s phases in accordance with the highest standards of quality, professionalism and sound governance, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Executive Council, issued a decision to form the “Higher Census Committee”, which included effective leading figures in the emirate, and the committee will seek the assistance of a group of experts and specialists. In this field, to supervise the implementation of the project, and to direct the Statistics and Studies Center, and the concerned government agencies on various issues related to cooperation and coordination in order to facilitate work in the various stages of planning and implementation of the census, in accordance with the best international scientific standards.
