China News Service, Beijing, March 9 (Xie Yanbing and Zhang Weiran) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on March 9.

A reporter asked: White House spokesman Psaki warned that the United States may take retaliatory measures if China does not comply with the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian: Sanctions have never been a fundamental and effective way to solve the problem.

China firmly opposes any form of unilateral sanctions and "long-arm jurisdiction" by the US.

When dealing with the Ukraine issue and its relations with Russia, the US should take China's concerns seriously and must not in any way harm China's legitimate rights and interests.

China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and individuals.
