Accused of being instruments of "disinformation" by Moscow in its war against Ukraine, the Russian state media RT and Sputnik have been banned from the European Union, and the ban on broadcasting on television and on the internet came into force on March 2.
RT France requests the urgent examination of the case (in summary procedure), which could take a few weeks if this request is deemed admissible, said the CJEU.
The merits of the case should take him several months.
Since the suspension of RT in Germany at the end of 2021, France is the only EU Member State to host an RT subsidiary on its soil.
The president of RT France, Xenia Fédorova, had on March 4 described this ban as “a great danger for freedom of expression”.
