After Poissy on Monday evening, Emmanuel Macron will continue his campaign this evening with a meeting with the parliamentarians of his majority, deputies, senators and European deputies.

A new campaign trip, probably to Paris or its inner suburbs for the "candidate for president".

Two functions which oblige Emmanuel Macron to a "at the same time" and which forces his campaign team to be particularly careful that the candidate's expenses are not paid by the presidency.

When it is the candidate and not the president who moves.

The costs incurred must be accounted for as campaign costs.

A puzzle for Emmanuel Macron

Behind the scenes, the candidate's entourage tries in advance to clear the ground and wants at all costs to avoid being slapped on the fingers by the National Commission for Campaign Accounts.

How will this campaign be organized from the point of view of resources?

This is already turning into a puzzle.

Even if he is a candidate, Emmanuel Macron must always use the means of transport and security of the presidency: the same car, the same bodyguards... Thus, when the outgoing president goes from the Elysée to his HQ rue du Rocher in Paris, the mileage expenses must be accounted for in its campaign accounts.

Same for his travels outside the Ile de France.

Safety obliges, he must take the plane and not the train.

Each hour in the presidential Falcon will then have to be re-invoiced to the campaign accounts at the rate set by the Ministry of the Armed Forces: 5,000 euros per hour.

A ceiling of 16.8 million euros

"For him, traveling is more expensive than for the other candidates," says those around him, who believe that, from this point of view, being outgoing president does not only have advantages.

Because the spending limit not to be exceeded is the same for all candidates, ie no more than 16.8 million euros between July 1st and the first round of the presidential election.

Candidates qualified for the second round will be able to go up to 22.5 million euros.

For this Emmanuel Macron will in particular rely on donations.

The objective set by his entourage was to reach five million euros in donations for this campaign.

"A sum that will be reached", we are assured at his HQ.
