PP and Vox get stuck in the armchairs: "The key that opens the Government is the Presidency of the Cortes"

The key will be who presides over the Cortes.

That will decide the distribution of the rest of the armchairs.

In the team of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, acting regional president, they assure that Vox, which came in third place in the elections, must "align" its proposals with those of the PP, which won but obtained an insufficient result and therefore will have to give in. .

In the "base" of that programmatic agreement there is already a coincidence, and it only remains to "develop" it after Thursday.

But there is not the problem, but in the distribution of armchairs.

According to negotiation sources, the regional leader of Vox, Juan García-Gallardo, demands "equal" treatment to that received by Ciudadanos in 2019. The

achieved four of the 10 ministries, a vice-presidency of the Board and the Presidency of the Cortes .

The "proportional" -as Santiago Abascal claims- to the results of Vox would be three ministries and the Presidency of the Cortes.

However, in the PP they reply that Cs was in a much more advantageous situation than that of Vox, since it could also agree with the PSOE, and those of Gallardo could not.

And they add that Mañueco had less negotiating strength then, having been second, than now that he has won.

"The Presidency of the Cortes corresponds to the winner of the elections, unless there is a pact of losers, as in 2019," argues Mañueco's environment.

The talks barely advanced yesterday.

It has not yet been discussed which ministries Vox could occupy.

"We have not reached that situation," they point out in Mañueco's team, where they insist that "the key that the Government opens for Vox is that the PP preside over the Cortes."

"Either we agree or the PSOE can preside over the Cortes," they warn.

The postures are close in the programmatic base, but collide in the armchairs

In the Castilian-Leon Parliament there are 81 attorneys.

To be elected, the candidate for parliamentary president needs the support of an absolute majority in the first vote, or a simple majority in successive votes.

There are ministers in favor of the "sanitary cordon" to Vox, but the regional candidate Luis Tudanca rejects it.

And Pedro Sánchez conditions it for the PP to lift the agreements with Vox in the rest of Spain.

Feijóo is not willing: "We are not going to accept that the PSOE tells us who we can agree with," he said on Monday.

So, except for a Copernican twist, all the cards on the table point to an understanding between Mañueco and Gallardo in Castilla y León.

This is already predicted in the PP and in Vox.

It would be the first time that Abascal's party stepped on the carpet of power.
