Billion-dollar yachts move to paradise islands without an agreement with the West.

Luxury properties in New York and London are sold or transferred to relatives.

The outside world is chasing the Russian oligarchs - and men are doing everything to protect their assets while more and more people end up on the sanctions lists.

Foreign Trade Minister Anna Hallberg (S) tells SVT that Sweden will be as independent as it can be of Russia.

She has now commissioned the Swedish Defense Research Agency, FOI, to "map Russian investments and economic interests in Sweden".

SVT Nyheter has examined the oligarchs' financial interests in Sweden.

By mapping company structures, we have found a number of Swedish companies where Russian billionaires are majority or larger.

Oleg Deripaska and Viktor Vekselberg are two of them.

Both are on the US sanctions list since 2018 - but not on the EU's.

They are larger in several Swedish companies that have invoiced authorities such as the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Transport Administration for, among other things, extensive infrastructure projects.

Others are:

Mikhail Prokhorov

Wealth: $ 11.2 billion (Forbes, March 9, 2022).

After the fall of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Prokhorov took control of the Russian mining giant Nornickel together with Vladimir Potanin - which was the start of the road to the billions.

Less well known is that Prokhorov is the owner of a Swedish company based in Stockholm.

The company has no operations in Sweden but in turn owns a Spanish company that manages the oligarch's luxury villa in Ibiza.

The property is located on a 35,000 square meter peninsula, has a 23 meter long infinity pool and a staff of 22 people.

During the high season, you can rent the luxury complex for about three million kronor a week.

Stockholmsbolaget previously owned another Spanish company that was convicted of tax fraud, according to Spanish media, it was about the payment for a berth outside Barcelona to Prokhorov's luxury yacht.

Mikhail Prokhorov ran in the 2012 presidential election against Vladimir Putin and received around eight percent of the vote.

He previously owned a major stake in aluminum giant Rusal, but sold his stake to oligarch Viktor Vekselberg in connection with US sanctions threats in 2018.

Prokhorov previously owned the NBA team Brooklyn Nets but sold his holdings in 2019 to Alibaba's co-founder Joseph Tsai.

Alexei Mordashov

Wealth: $ 29.1 billion with family (Forbes, June 4, 2021).

As a major figure in the Russian steel giant Severstal, Alexei Mordashov has become one of the richest in Russia.

On the same day as the invasion of Ukraine, Mordashov was invited to a popular meeting with Vladimir Putin - and a few days later he ended up on the EU sanctions list.

Alexei Mordashov also owns about a third of the German travel giant Tui via a Cyprus-based company - and they in turn own Tui Sverige AB.

Mordashov left the board of the travel company one day after the sanctions.

Last week, Italian police seized Mordashov's luxury yacht - the 65-meter-long "Lady M" which is valued at over half a billion Swedish kronor.
