The editors of the Michelin restaurant guide presented their Germany edition for 2022 on Tuesday.

The testers, who call themselves inspectors, rate good restaurants with up to three stars.

This time, three restaurants in the region received new awards.

The Frankfurt restaurants "Maintower" with chef Martin Weghofer and "Masa Japanese Cuisine" by Masaru Oae as well as the "Ox" in Darmstadt with chef David Rink each received a star.

In total, the restaurant guide awarded a star 31 times, two stars eight times and three stars once.

The Schanz restaurant in a hotel of the same name in Piesport on the Moselle can now also celebrate this highest award, which eight restaurants in Germany have received to date.

At the award ceremony, Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, once again pointed out the burden on the industry from the pandemic and praised the stamina and resilience of top-class gastronomy in particular.
