A protocol of nearly 700 million euros for the revaluation of the careers of the gendarmes was announced by Gérald Darmanin this Wednesday.

The project is part of the orientation and programming bill of the Ministry of the Interior (Lopmi), Emmanuel Macron's security program.

Gérald Darmanin announced on Wednesday the signing of a protocol relating to nearly 700 million euros over five years to upgrade the careers of the gendarmes in particular, in line with the agreement signed for the police last week.

This protocol is backed by the orientation and programming bill of the Ministry of the Interior (Lopmi), which will be presented next Wednesday to the Council of Ministers.

This bill with an additional 15 billion euros over five years, presented as Emmanuel Macron's security program, is suspended depending on the result of the presidential election.

The issue of funding

Last week, the Minister of the Interior announced the signing by all police union organizations of a protocol endowed with nearly 800 million euros.

The last protocol on career upgrades for police officers and gendarmes dates back to April 2016.
