"When I was a child, I never thought that I would embark on the road of communication with Taiwan." Li Biying, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Taiwan League, who was originally from Taichung, Taiwan, said, "My father's death touched me a lot. His last wish was The two sides of the strait will be reunified as soon as possible, and I will continue the efforts of the previous generation."

Li Biying's father, Li Qiaosong, joined the anti-Japanese movement during the Japanese colonization of Taiwan. He was arrested many times and never changed his mind.

After Taiwan's recovery, he was wanted for participating in the "February 28" uprising against the autocratic rule of the Kuomintang authorities and was forced to leave Taiwan and return to the mainland.

In Li Biying's impression, when his father was old, he always liked to stand by the window, sometimes with tears in the corners of his eyes.

"Later I learned that the window at home faces southeast, which is the direction of my hometown of Taichung. My father is homesick."

"In my father's description, Taichung is a treasure land. The rice is good, the sugar cane is sweet, and the fruit is abundant. Anything is good." Seemingly lost in the thoughts of his father, Li Biying paused for a few seconds before continuing, "But until his death, my father was always there. Not being able to set foot on his homeland again and see his relatives in his hometown again. I think his heart is full of regret and sentimentality."

In 2001, Li Biying finally returned to her father's hometown of Taichung, and she prepared many gifts for relatives in her hometown in advance.

"That time, the feeling was too deep! There were more than 100 people in the family, most of them were seeing each other for the first time, but they were not familiar with each other at all." Li Biying recalled that everyone sat and chatted for more than 4 hours, but they were still unfinished. " I am surrounded by warm affection."

On that day, Li Biying deeply realized: "The two sides of the Taiwan Strait are a family, and there is a continuous bloodline." Since then, she has exchanged visits with relatives on the island, and her relationship has grown deeper.

"The elders always say that the two sides of the strait should move more and have more exchanges. No matter how many interference and obstacles they encounter, they must persevere. Many people in the family have devoted themselves to the front line of cross-strait exchanges, hoping to make a small contribution to the realization of the reunification of the motherland." Talking about the reunification Li Biying said "very eager" three times in a row, "The pain of separation of relatives cannot be repeated!"

Liang Zhiqiang, representative of the Taiwan Provincial Delegation of the National People's Congress and vice-chairman of the Taiwan Federation of Fujian Province, also had a personal experience with the dream of reunification and the national conditions of the country.

In 1946, Liang Zhiqiang's father was an apprentice in a tailor shop in Taipei.

Like many Taiwanese recruits, he left his hometown before saying goodbye to his family and was sent to the front lines of the civil war.

This difference is nearly half a century.

Liang Zhiqiang said that his father experienced turbulent times and years of isolation when individuals were unable to choose, and he knew that the narrow strait meant not only the separation of relatives, but also the pain of the entire nation.

In the decades when the two sides of the strait were unable to communicate with each other, the strait was "frozen", the flesh and blood were separated from each other, and the bitterness of endless nostalgia turned into an inescapable nostalgia.

Until the 1980s, the barrier separating the two sides of the Taiwan Strait was finally broken, and the tide of relatives and compatriots approaching and visiting relatives rose.

"Back then, the uncle brought his aunt and cousin to Fujian from Taiwan to visit his father. When the three brothers and sisters met, they hugged each other and cried, and when they parted, they also cried." Liang Zhiqiang said emotionally, "After more than 40 years of no news, I am very concerned about the couple. For an old man, this day came too late."

"My father used to say before his death that cross-strait peace is very precious and should be well protected. In recent years, the DPP authorities have recklessly pursued 'independence' provocations for political self-interest, seriously undermining the peaceful development of cross-strait relations." Liang Zhiqiang said indignantly, "This It will only push the Taiwan compatriots to disaster, which is something that Chinese people on both sides of the strait do not want to see. We must smash the 'Taiwan independence' separatist plot so that our compatriots can live and work in peace and contentment."

  A generation has a generation's responsibility, and a generation has a generation's mission.

Liang Zhiqiang said that there are many relatives all over the island, and everyone is looking forward to the real reunion of the two sides of the strait as soon as possible, and to jointly realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

"Our fathers worked actively for the restoration and expansion of exchanges between the two sides of the strait, and the responsibility of our generation is to fully promote the complete reunification of the motherland. This is the entrustment of our fathers, and it is an important task that we must shoulder."

Li Biying said that the future of cross-strait relations lies in the youth, and more exchange activities should be organized for young people on both sides of the strait, so as to continuously sow the seeds of "cross-strait one family".
