Expo 2020 Dubai receives European and international accreditation for gender equality

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, announced that the global event has received the European and International Standard for Gender Equality in the Gender Equality category for large events.

In her speech during the "Breaking Prejudice" forum organized by the Women's Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai in cooperation with Cartier, Al Hashemi explained that this achievement comes thanks to the efforts made by Expo 2020 Dubai to support and stimulate equality in various internal policies and external communication mechanisms, as well as in various operations and pavilions. and content programs.

The European and International Gender Equality Accreditation Award for Events highlights the proactive approach to gender equality at work in this edition of the World Expo, and was independently accredited by Peru Veritas, the world's leading testing, evaluation and ratings company. Accredited, assessed using key metrics, such as salaries, promotions, and skills development, as well as formal and political commitments to gender equality, as enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals.

The honor is awarded by the Europe-based Arbors Endowment Fund and endorses Expo 2020 Dubai's efforts and its human resource management policies to achieve gender equality at work, taking into account that women make up more than half of the entire workforce at Expo 2020 Dubai. (53 percent), and more than a third of all high-ranking presidents (38 percent).

Among other major achievements, women at Expo 2020 Dubai hold 52 percent of management positions, and occupy more than three out of five jobs designated for graduates.

Honoring the European and International Gender Equality Standard for Events awarded by Expo 2020 Dubai, the first of its kind to be awarded to any World Expo, embodies the event’s broader commitment to gender equality. The principle "Humanity Prospers in the Prosperity of Women" celebrates the key roles women have played throughout history and today.

Expo 2020 Dubai is the first World Expo to have a separate pavilion for women in more than 50 years.
