Cut off electricity to the Chernobyl nuclear plant

The electricity supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine was cut off.

The Ukrainian national energy company, Yukrinjo, said power lines had been damaged by the bombing, and the fighting north of Kyiv is preventing any repair work now.

The concerned authorities reported that 210 local technicians and safety workers have been working continuously for nearly two weeks, as there has been no change to the technicians on duty since the Russian forces took control of the facility nearly two weeks ago.

These individuals have water and food, but their situation is deteriorating.

In addition, the International Atomic Energy Agency has lost contact with its monitoring devices that ensure that all nuclear materials are in place.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, another nuclear plant and some other facilities holding a stockpile of nuclear material were damaged by Russian military operations.

However, there has been no leakage of radioactive materials so far.
