China News Service, Beijing, March 9 (Zhang Weiran and Xie Yanbing) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on March 9.

At the meeting, a reporter asked the spokesperson for China-India relations.

Zhao Lijian: State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has clearly stated China's position on the development of China-India relations at the press conference of the two sessions.

China and India share extensive common interests and huge potential for cooperation, and both shoulder the historical mission of improving people's livelihood and accelerating development.

The two countries should be partners for each other's achievements, not rivals that consume each other.

We have always believed that China-India relations are mature and multi-layered. Boundary issues are not the whole of China-India relations. They should be placed in an appropriate position in bilateral relations and effectively managed.

The Chinese side hopes that the Indian side will meet the Chinese side halfway, insist on enhancing mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, and ensure that the bilateral relations will move forward along the right track, so as to bring greater benefits to the two peoples and make greater contributions to the region and the world.

Regarding the border issue, I have a message to share with you.

It was agreed that the Chinese and Indian militaries will hold the 15th round of commander-level talks between China and India on March 11.

On January 12, China and India held the 14th round of commander-level talks. The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on resolving issues related to the western sector of the China-India border and issued a joint press release.

It is hoped that this meeting will continue to move forward on the basis of previous talks between the two sides, further expand consensus, narrow differences, and strive to reach a solution acceptable to both sides.
