Today, Wednesday, Arab foreign ministers approved an Algerian proposal to hold the next Arab summit on the first and second of November in Algeria.

The Algerian Foreign Ministry stated - in a statement - that the Arab foreign ministers meeting in the Egyptian capital Cairo - within the framework of the regular session of the Ministerial Council - adopted the decision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the date of the Arab summit to be hosted by Algeria.

The statement indicated that "the date was demarcated on the first and second of November 2022, coinciding with the 68th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious liberation revolution (against French colonialism in 1954)."

The statement considered that the Arabs "are facing an important political date in the history of the Arab nation, from which it is expected to open new horizons for joint Arab action to enable the Arab nation to make its voice heard, interact and positively influence the course of affairs at the regional and international levels."

In a press conference following the Cairo meeting today, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the preparatory meetings for the Arab Summit in Algeria, bearing No. 31, will be held in the last week of next October at the level of permanent delegates and foreign ministers, before being held on Leaders level in early November.

The Arab summit at the level of leaders was scheduled to be held this month in Algeria, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic, such as the 2020 and 2021 editions.

The last regular summit of the League of Arab States at the level of leaders was held in March 2019 in Tunisia.
