The first round of the 2022 presidential election will take place on April 10.
Twelve candidates have validated the 500 sponsorships necessary to present themselves in the first round.
A store in Lille offers a collection of socks bearing the image of 8 of the candidates.
The election campaigns of the 2022 presidential candidates are displayed everywhere, on the walls, in the media, on social networks and sometimes even on clothing in the form of slogans on t-shirts.
The Lille store Chaussettes & Cie has decided that its flagship product is just as suitable.
A collection “The sock 2022” has therefore been developed, offering pairs of socks bearing the image of 8 of the 12 candidates.
The brand has focused on a select panel of 8 personalities involved in the 2022 presidential campaign. For its collection of socks, the brand offers Macron, Hidalgo, Le Pen, Jadot, Pécresse, Zemmour, Mélenchon and Taubira pairs, this the latter having nevertheless thrown in the towel for lack of having collected the necessary 500 sponsorships.
Exit therefore the Lassalles, Arthaud, Poutou, Dupont-Aignan and Roussel.
For each candidate, there is a blue or red version and a version with or without a mask.
Fight against abstention
If the approach is primarily commercial, the sign does not hide an even nobler ambition: to fight against abstention.
“In April, do what you like but go vote!
“, is it written on the website of the brand.
“Socks are like voting, they're useful.
By having fun with an everyday product, we make the campaign more fun, less anxiety-provoking and we help people take an interest, without the fuss, in public affairs", explains Maxime Lemersre, founder of the brand, on its webpage.
For the product itself, it is made in France and Europe from organic cotton.
The pair is sold for 13 euros.
For the rest, the future will tell if the approach will really encourage buyers to come to the polling stations.
