Twelve Ukrainian scientists are currently stuck at the Vernadsky base in Antarctica.

The researchers were coming to the end of a thirteen-month mission when war broke out in Ukraine on February 24.

, the colleagues supposed to replace them are blocked in Kiev and Kharkiv.

" said Andrii Khytryi, a member of the group of researchers.

Responsible for monitoring the physical and psychological state of his colleagues, this doctor claims to be obliged to administer medication to them to fight against stress, high blood pressure and insomnia.

“I believe I would have been much more useful in caring for the injured in an operating or emergency room, or in the field,” he added.

The twelve scientists follow the progress of the situation in their country thanks to continuous news channels or Internet access on their mobile phones.

This expedition to the "white continent" is the 26th carried out by Ukrainian scientists since 1996. According to information from
