Twelve Ukrainian scientists are currently stuck at the Vernadsky base in Antarctica.
The researchers were coming to the end of a thirteen-month mission when war broke out in Ukraine on February 24.
According to information from

, the colleagues supposed to replace them are blocked in Kiev and Kharkiv.

,
" said Andrii Khytryi, a member of the group of researchers.
Responsible for monitoring the physical and psychological state of his colleagues, this doctor claims to be obliged to administer medication to them to fight against stress, high blood pressure and insomnia.
“I would have been more useful on the pitch”
“I believe I would have been much more useful in caring for the injured in an operating or emergency room, or in the field,” he added.
The twelve scientists follow the progress of the situation in their country thanks to continuous news channels or Internet access on their mobile phones.
“Distance doesn't make me a stranger.
I am still linked to Ukraine by mental ties: my family, my friends, my colleagues, my memories and my aspirations,” said Andrii Khytryi.
This expedition to the "white continent" is the 26th carried out by Ukrainian scientists since 1996. According to information from
Wired
, a Ukrainian research vessel left Odessa on January 28, before the start of the Russian invasion.
Barring any setbacks, its crew should soon land on the base alongside the twelve researchers.
