"Emirates Today" published the story of Munira's suffering with the disease and her need for treatment, which is the most expensive injection in the world, and four authorities in the country interacted with the child's condition, and paid for the treatment cost.

The father of the child, Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, confirmed that his daughter was finally able to move new parts of her body, and was able to sit for the first time after helping her, in addition to a general improvement in her motor abilities, especially after undergoing a rehabilitation program by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. That gave her all the support.

He thanked all the parties contributing to the treatment and rehabilitation of his child, explaining that without these efforts, his daughter would not have experienced improvement, stressing that those who live in the UAE enjoy support and care that cannot be found anywhere else.

For her part, the head of the health care department at the Abu Dhabi Center for Care and Rehabilitation, affiliated with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, Amina Al-Yafei, stated that the girl (Munira) began treatment sessions last October, when she was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disease that affects the nerves. That emerge from the spinal cord, the patient suffers from general weakness in the body's motor muscles, breathing and swallowing muscles.

And she added that as a result of the nature of the disease, the girl suffered from severe weakness in the muscles of the back, abdomen, and head control muscles, and she was unable to raise her head or rotate and flip, and the movement of the lower and upper limbs was very weak.

Al Yafei added that the sessions focused on exercises to strengthen muscles, exercises to maintain range of motion to prevent any deformities in the joints, and exercises to improve head control and improve sitting balance.

She stated that thanks to the treatment programs that the girl underwent, she showed a remarkable response to the treatment, and was able to control the head, and her motor abilities improved, especially the movement of the upper and lower extremities, and she also started receiving occupational and speech therapy services.

Four parties sponsored the treatment of the girl (Munira), as the Emirates Islamic Bank provided four million dirhams, and the Dubai Islamic Bank provided two million dirhams, while the Dubai International Financial Center provided one million dirhams, and Wasl Real Estate provided one million dirhams.

The girl (Munira) was born suffering from a hereditary genetic disease of spinal muscular atrophy, which caused her to be completely unable to move, as well as rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat, muscle relaxation, and exposure to cases of suffocation, and after examinations and analyzes her rare disease was diagnosed. .

Doctors confirmed that her treatment is expensive, and is not available in the country, and that after two months she will need a feeding tube so that milk does not enter the lungs, because the effect of atrophy has affected even swallowing and the lung, which did not happen thanks to her receiving treatment, after four parties donated eight Millions of dirhams for the injection.
