Victor Pourcher with Mélanie Faure 9:35 p.m., March 08, 2022

More than a month after the release of Victor Castanet's "Fossoyeurs", what is the situation in nursing homes?

Europe 1 went to meet Siam, a nurse who works in an establishment in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Despite the controversy, she assures us that things have not changed for the residents and that the situation remains alarming.

It was an investigation that caused an earthquake in France.

In his book

Les Fossoyeurs

, Victor Castanet denounces the hell that rages within nursing homes and more particularly within the establishments of the European leader in retirement homes, Orpea.

He denounces the mistreatment of residents and a race for profitability.

Siam is a nurse in an Ehpad in Seine-Saint-Denis, in the Paris region.

She deplores the continuation of abusive practices within her establishment, despite the publication of Victor Castanet's book on January 26, and the announcement of tighter controls by the government.

"Nothing has changed," she lamented at the microphone of Europe 1. "We spend our time trying to arbitrate. I'm going to wash him first, because we've been dating for several days. "He's not well taken care of and the other can wait. He'll eat faster because he's been fasting longer."

“We do our job to denounce”

This nurse explains that, if she stays in this establishment, it is out of concern for the residents.

"It's not for our work, we are nurses, carers. We can find work in the minute. If we do it, it's to denounce and because it's unfair."

An injustice that persists over time, despite its warning signs.

"For our employers, it is out of the question that we can listen to employees, hear them and change practices that could reduce profits," she concludes.
