The United States receives the aircraft free of charge from Poland.

While Poland announces that it is ready to transfer the aircraft to the US air base in Germany, it is asking the United States to provide access to used aircraft with similar operational capabilities.

Poland is ready to immediately agree on the terms of purchase for the replacement aircraft, according to the announcement from the Polish government.

The Polish government is also asking other NATO countries - owners of Mig-29 planes - to take similar measures.

This mainly applies to countries in the former Warsaw Pact.

The United States is facilitating the move

It has previously been reported that Poland wanted to donate old Soviet fighter jets to Ukraine.

Ukrainian pilots were therefore sent to Poland.

The plan was to move the planes to Ukraine, but the plans were stopped after Russian threats against countries that "get involved in the conflict".

According to the British news agency Reuters, the White House has facilitated the transfer of Polish fighter jets from Poland to Ukraine following an appeal by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This is also stated to apply to combat aircraft from other NATO countries.
