The day before the war broke out, Olesya was playing with her one-year-old daughter on a playground in Kyiv.

Not long after, they woke up to the sound of bombs falling and the couple realized they had to leave Kyiv.

They packed their bags and drove to the border.

- We were terrified, at any time the bombs could hit where we were, says Olesya Bublaj.

Once there, they were quickly separated.

Olesya and her daughter went to Sweden, while her husband stayed.

Her brother and mother are also in the country, and her father is fighting in the city of Kharkiv.

- It's like having a lump in your throat.

As soon as I get a call or text message, I almost panic and think that something terrible has happened to them.
