“Prohibitive measures are being introduced on the export of oil refining equipment,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Japanese Foreign Ministry imposed restrictions on another 20 Russian businessmen and officials in connection with the situation around Ukraine and Russia's military operation.

The sanctions also affected 12 individuals and ten Belarusian companies and organizations.

Prior to this, the Japanese authorities imposed restrictions on Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and 49 Russian companies.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has previously announced the imposition of Tokyo sanctions against the Central Bank of Russia.
