OK Orion is the driving force behind the initiative but has collaborated with several local players in Jämjö to make the race possible.

The club's chairman, Johan Swartz, says that it felt important to get involved as there are several Ukrainian members in the orienteering club.

- It is with the Jämjö spirit as we are used to helping each other here, so there is incredible support here tonight, he says.

Several participants on site

Annika and Wejne Larsson were two Jämjö residents who chose to participate in the race, but on foot.

- It was obvious that we wanted to do what we could to help, it was a fun initiative, says Annika.

It has worked well to run together with teammates from Jämjö GOIF, thought six-year-old Max Olofsson, who took a short break after the first lap.

- It's great fun and not so cold at all, he says.
