“The Commission intends to present by April a legislative proposal requiring that underground gas storage facilities throughout the EU be filled to at least 90% of their capacity by October 1 of each year,” the EC said in a statement.

Until the legislation comes into force, the commission calls on Member States to take steps to replenish storage before the next heating season.

Earlier it became known that the price of gas in Europe exceeded $3,200 per 1,000 cubic meters at the opening of trading.
