The aim of the demonstration was to draw the attention of decision-makers to the problem of men's violence against women.

- I would like all political parties to put it on their agenda.

Such as gang violence, which is talked about all the time, says Margareta Sylvan, who is chairman of the board of the women's and girls' shelter in Jönköping.

During the event, candles were lit that floated on Munksjön and each candle represented a woman or a child who lived through the organization last year, 28 women and 33 children.

Afterwards, Jönköping's canoe club helped to fish up the lanterns.

It is the first time that they organized this type of light manifestation on water and they were happy with the 50 or so people who came.

- I hope this will be a little reminder that this needs more attention, says Margareta Sylvan.

An estimated 50 people went there and the organizers thought it was a successful event.
