The accident occurred last week, Wednesday 2 March at Sjumilaskolan in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg.

According to the incident report, the boy, an elementary school student, fell from a rock in the schoolyard in connection with a break.

The report sent to the Swedish Schools Inspectorate describes how the boy climbed the mountain, lost his footing and fell.

School staff must have quickly arrived at the student, who was conscious, and he was taken to the school nurse.

The boy's condition later prompted the school to alert an ambulance and he was taken to hospital, which later described the injuries as life-threatening.

More fences on the mountain

The primary school administration writes in its report that the local administration may need to review the mountain and expand with more fences - to prevent school children from climbing the mountain.

On Tuesday, March 8, word came from the hospital that the boy had died.
