The French wine world is also mobilizing.

An online auction of wines for the benefit of the victims of the war in Ukraine will be organized at the end of March after the appeal for generosity from the wine world by the honorary consul of Ukraine in New Aquitaine, Laurent Fortin.

"We receive wines from all regions of France, Burgundy, Rhône Valley, Provence and of course from Bordeaux", welcomed the man who is also general manager of Château Dauzac, a Grand Cru Classé of Margaux.

“Big names in wine have contributed, even first grand crus classés like Château Lafite, but also wines that are known without being extremely valued,” he added.

From March 30 and for six days, the bottles will be on sale at the symbolic price of one euro on the iDealwine.com online platform.

All of the profits, including the buyer's commission, will be donated to Ukraine Amitié, a humanitarian association based in Bordeaux which collects donations and medicines for the civilian populations of Ukraine.

You must send your bottles before March 21

With the money collected, this association plans to buy basic necessities and medical equipment.

The head of the Médoc cru, who “calls for the civic engagement of the wine sector to relieve a friendly people in distress”, does not set a quantified objective as to the proceeds of his charity sale.

The lots can be sent until March 21 to Château Dauzac, in Labarde in Gironde.

"Large containers will be particularly welcome," says Laurent Fortin, whose château will then take care of transporting them to the auction site's platform.
