Last week, approximately 350 Ukrainian refugees applied to the Swedish Migration Board in Region West.

Now there are significantly more and the Swedish Migration Agency is struggling to find housing.

From the 100,000 accommodation places in the country that existed during the previous wave of refugees, the number has been scaled down to around 10,000 places.

At Spenshult's migration accommodation in Halmstad, there are only a few vacancies.

Work in progress

Urgent procurements are now being made to ensure that all those who need housing can be offered one.

"Procurements are being worked on that will be able to provide 15,000 - 20,000 new places in the country," says Kristofer Skånmyr, section manager at the Swedish Migration Board in western Sweden.
