The Ukrainian Embassy in Korea announced today (7th) that there are about 100 applicants who will participate in the Ukrainian war in Korea as so-called 'volunteers'.

An official from the Ukrainian embassy in Korea said today, "There are a lot of inquiries about support for participation in the war," and "so far, it is estimated that there are about 100 volunteers."

He added that there are also many inquiries from people who do not meet the qualifications to enlist in the volunteer army.

The embassy guides only those who are eligible for enlistment when volunteers inquire about the relevant procedure.

Eligibility for enlistment is an adult 18 years of age or older with military experience.

Regarding the current status of Korean volunteers who actually went to Ukraine, the official said, "We cannot disclose it for security reasons."

Currently, the Korean government has issued a travel warning level 4 (no travel) for the entire region of Ukraine, so if a Korean national enters Ukraine without permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he may be punished according to the passport law.

According to the current passport law, an unauthorized entry may be sentenced to up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won, or may be subject to administrative sanctions such as an order to return the current passport, invalidation of the passport, and refusal or restriction of issuance of a new passport.

Yesterday, when Lee Geun, who became famous for his military-related YouTube content, claimed on social media (SNS) that he had departed for the Ukrainian war, an embassy official said, "There is currently nothing to answer (with regards to information on the enlistment procedure and whether or not you are aware of it in advance)." Said.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleva said on the 6th that the number of foreign volunteers is about 20,000, mostly Europeans.
