Today, Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz hinted at using the military option to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

"Whether an agreement is signed or not, this will not be the end of the road for us, nor should it be for the countries of the region and the world, which must continue to act against Iranian aggression," he said in a written statement.

He added that Israel and its defense establishment will take all necessary measures, political, economic, and "if necessary, military in order to defend its sovereignty and ensure its security."

Gantz's statement comes as the parties to the 2015 nuclear deal say they are close to reaching an agreement to revive the nuclear deal after months of talks in the Austrian capital, Vienna.

the 2015 agreement signed by Iran with the United States, France, Britain, China, Russia and Germany, which imposed restrictions on Tehran's program to prevent the production of nuclear weapons, in return for the lifting of international sanctions;

But the administration of former US President Donald Trump withdrew from it in 2018.

In his statement, Gantz referred to the Israeli army's announcement, on Sunday, that it had intercepted two Iranian drones, which he said were on their way to the Palestinian territories.

"We revealed, and highlighted the extent of the development of this trend. Israel, in coordination with its partners in the region, intercepted an attempt to transfer drones carrying weapons from Iran to the Gaza Strip," he said.

Neither Gantz nor the IDF has revealed which partners in the region helped bring down the Iranian drones.

In a statement on Sunday, the Israeli army announced that nearly a year ago, Air Force planes shot down "two Iranian drones on their way to Israel."

On Saturday, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization announced that it had reached an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency to resolve issues related to the nuclear program, as part of efforts to revive the 2015 agreement.
