Erdogan to Putin: The Russian ruble can be used in trade transactions between the two countries

The Turkish NTV channel reported, today, Monday, that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, of the possibility of using the Russian ruble in commercial transactions between the two countries.

According to the channel, Erdogan assured Putin, during a phone conversation on Sunday, the possibility of using the ruble, the Russian dollar, the euro, the Chinese yuan and gold in trade transactions between Moscow and Ankara.

The channel pointed out that the Russian President informed Erdogan that he will give instructions regarding the departure of 30 ships loaded with wheat and sunflower oil to Turkey.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine after the Donetsk and Lugansk republics requested help to defend themselves from the intense attacks of Ukrainian forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the operation was targeting Ukraine's military infrastructure and that civilians were not in danger.

Moscow says it does not plan to occupy Ukraine, but rather to disarm Kyiv and stop its threats.

At the same time, the West responded to the Russian operation by imposing a large package of sanctions in order to undermine Moscow's will and isolate it from the world, as it claims, but Russia was well prepared for such actions, which it expected to happen, regardless of the situation in Ukraine.
