Around 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning, a man in his fifties was mowed down by a heavy truck after getting out of his car on the A8 motorway, near Mandelieu-la-Napoule, in the Alpes-Maritimes.

, he had parked his vehicle on the hard shoulder and waited for a truck carrying cement to pass before throwing himself onto the lane.
He had left a letter for his family about his desire to commit suicide.
An accident in the other direction caused by a misplaced "curiosity"
According to the first elements of the investigation carried out by the Mandelieu-la-Napoule motorway peloton and the Villeneuve-Loubet brigade, the fifty-year-old, from Colle-sur-Loup, suffered from psychological disorders.
The fatal accident caused a slowdown in traffic until 9:30 a.m., in the direction of Italy towards Aix-en-Provence.
On the other side of the tracks, another collision between two cars was caused by "the curiosity" of motorists, noted the local daily.
No serious injuries but a 4 km traffic jam until the vehicles were removed.
