The day before yesterday, innovative students flocked to Expo 2020 Dubai to participate in the fourth edition of the Emirates Young Scientist Competition, as part of the activities of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Festival, at the Dubai Exhibition Center, which provides an attractive environment for both future generations and teachers, enhancing their passion Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The competition received a remarkable turnout from innovative students, who represent a number of schools in the UAE, as they were keen to register their innovations and prepare platforms for displaying their projects. The national competition attracted 2,651 projects that will be evaluated during the first round of arbitration, by a committee of 25 arbitrators.

The Ministry of Education allocates valuable financial rewards for the winning student projects in the pioneering competition, whose activities will continue until tomorrow, at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The participating students compete in four main fields: technology, biological and environmental sciences, chemistry, physics and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences.

The number of schools participating in the competition reached 459 schools nationwide.

On the sidelines of the competition, the Expo News Services team met innovative students to highlight their innovations that contribute to shaping the future.

Emirati student Ali Humaid Al Ali said that his project, a smart electric chair, designed from recycled materials, facilitates the movement of people of determination and the elderly, through the use of smart technology, without the need to seek help from others.

Ali (11 years old), from the Emirates Science Club, added that the project includes creating a remote control mechanism for the wheelchair using a smart glove, which in turn controls the chair via “Bluetooth”, as it allows determining directions, lifting and lowering the wheelchair.

The young innovator expressed his overwhelming happiness and feeling proud to participate in the competition held in this beautiful place "Expo 2020 Dubai", stressing that he aspires to become a space engineer in the future, and an ambassador for artificial intelligence, in order to inspire people to learn and create in this field.

As for the 16-year-old Emirati student, Aisha Abdullah, from the Dubai National School, she said that her “adaptive sole” project was a common idea between her and her two schoolmates, Terra Asia and Al-Ghula Omar, and relies on designing shoes with flexible soles, which can redistribute support according to the distribution of support. Apply pressure during various physical activities, such as walking or tennis, to prevent joint and muscle injuries and foot health problems.

The "adaptive insole", according to 14-year-old student Tera Asia, who said that she and her two colleagues were inspired by the idea of ​​their project from Nike air shoes, which contain only nitrogen, aims to prevent excessive consumption by reducing everyone's need for a lot of shoes, which are harmful to the environment. Students Ahmed Khalifa Al Hamli, Matar Al Shamsi, and Abdul Rahman Wadah Al Hashemi, from the Emirates Science Club, present the “Vehicle Safe Distance Detector” project, which is a smart radar that can be used on special gates similar to “Salik”, equipped with a camera and sensor to measure the distance between cars. The 15-year-old Emirati student, Ahmed Al Hamli, who aspires to become a war pilot, explained that his passion for innovation and technology began at an early age, as he participated in the 11th in many championships in Cairo and Abu Dhabi.
