► The second attempt to evacuate civilians from Mariupol was interrupted on Sunday after a first attempt aborted the day before due to non-respect of the ceasefire.
The capture of this city of some 450,000 inhabitants, located on the Sea of Azov, would allow the junction between the Russian forces coming from annexed Crimea, which have already taken the key ports of Berdiansk and Kherson, and the separatist troops and Russians in the Donbass.

► The two global banking card giants Visa and Mastercard announced on Saturday March 5 that they were suspending their activities in Russia.
Russian Visa and Mastercard bank cards will no longer be valid abroad, and cards issued abroad will no longer work in Russia.
American Express made the same decision this Sunday, March 6.
► A new round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations will take place on Monday March 7, according to the head of the Ukrainian delegation.

German finance and foreign ministers on Sunday spoke out against a ban on imports of gas, oil and coal from Russia as part of new sanctions linked to the invasion of Ukraine.
"
We must be able to hold (the sanctions) over
time," explained the head of diplomacy, Annalena Baerbock, to the ARD channel.
“
It is useless if in three weeks we discover that we only have a few days of electricity left in Germany and that we must therefore reverse these sanctions.
