Senegal is still waiting for its Prime Minister

President Macky Sall announced the reinstatement of the post on November 24, 2021, more than three months ago, and the National Assembly voted the bill to this effect on December 10.
The function of head of government was abolished to everyone's surprise in 2019. The head of state justified his return by his new responsibilities at the head of the African Union.
But the wait for an appointment and a possible reshuffle of the government continues.

strange in-between situation

The Prime Minister will be appointed "
after the local elections
" of January 23, President Macky Sall said in
an interview with RFI and France 24 in December
, without specifying a timetable.
Elections marked by the defeat of several candidate ministers.
The decision would have been delayed first by
the victory of the Lions at the CAN football
, assures a member of the presidential coalition, then by the organization of the
inauguration ceremony of the new stadium in Senegal
on February 22.
But beyond a busy agenda, someone close to the executive is now talking about another track being considered: that of appointing a Prime Minister and a new government after the legislative elections set for July 31.
“
It wouldn't make sense to set up a new team for a few months
,” he explains.
For his part, the Minister Spokesperson for the Presidency Seydou Guèye simply indicates that the Head of State “
is not bound by deadlines
”.
