On March 4, local time, the South Korean fire department said that the wildfire that broke out in Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province that morning spread along the national highway to the Hanwei nuclear power plant near the coast.

Nearly 4,000 residents were evacuated, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in ordered security measures to be taken.

The South Korean fire department and the fire extinguishing team of the Hanwei Nuclear Power Plant have extinguished the flames around the nuclear power plant.

The fire department also deployed a large-capacity fire extinguisher system at the site at the request of the Hanwei Nuclear Power Plant, and issued a first-level national mobilization order. The Forestry Department has launched a third-level response to forest fires.

A fire department official said that although the fire spread to the vicinity of the nuclear power plant, no damage has been caused.
