The Old City of Jerusalem has been the site of numerous attacks against Israeli targets in recent years.

From October 2015 and for months, Jerusalem, the occupied West Bank and Israel had been the scene of anti-Israeli stabbing attacks most often committed by isolated Palestinian youths.

While such attacks have since declined, violence and clashes increased in the West Bank last year, according to recent data from the Israeli military and the UN.
