The designated area is close to the municipal boundary towards Skinnskatteberg, but wind power in the area would also affect the neighboring municipality of Fagersta.

Both were very critical of the area being pointed out as appropriate in Smedjebacken's proposal for a new wind farm plan.

- The technical development has gone so incredibly fast when it comes to wind turbines, they produce much more electricity today than they did just two or three years ago.

Based on that, we see that our share, of Dalarna's share, of the nation's share, means that we do not need to have as many designated places as we have today.

So then, when two municipalities do not want wind power right on the border, we have of course taken that into account, says Ingemar Hellström.

Opinions from your own residents then?

- It also affects, of course.

Received opinions are saved

The fact that Smedjebacken municipality recently chose to pause the revision work of the wind farm plan until it is time to review the municipality's entire master plan in two years does not affect already started wind power plans in other designated areas, such as Styggtjänsberget on the border with Norberg municipality.

- What we would have done, an environmental impact statement, only concerns the plan itself, not the area where the wind power is to be built.

It is the developer's job to produce such.

So the work on Styggtjärnsberget, Trollugnsberget, Älgkullen and Siksjöberget continues.

But opinions received about these designated areas - what happens to them?

- All opinions that have been received now, they are included in the entire process going forward.

So they will come up again on the day the entire master plan is approved, says Ingemar Hellström.
