• A new station and a multimodal exchange hub will be created at Le Bouscat as part of the metropolitan RER for the Bordeaux conurbation.

  • The pole will be delivered at the end of 2023 and by boarding a train at Le Bouscat we can get to Saint-Jean station in a quarter of an hour.

  • The site takes place in an urban environment and is only held during the day to save the sleep of local residents.

At the end of 2023, it will be possible to take a train at Le Bouscat and meet again 14 minutes later at Saint-Jean station in Bordeaux.

"This is the first concrete and visible achievement of the Bordeaux metropolitan RER, since there have already been diametrical lines, several steps taken but this one is particularly visible", points out Stéphane Lambert director SNCF station and connection of New Aquitaine, during the official inauguration of the site this Friday.

The construction site was launched at the end of 2021 and will end for the station at the end of 2022, the multimodal hub will be delivered at the end of 2023. The metropolis and the region are the main financiers.

A station on stilts

"The trains run in the morning and evening at peak times and we finally have five hours to work on the track each day", specifies Stéphane Lambert.

This aerial station on stilts will be built on 200 micropiles driven 10 meters into the ground.

The construction site, in an urban environment, was restricted to daytime hours to spare local residents sleep.

Some 210 concrete slabs will be installed on these micropiles to create the platforms which will be served by elevators.

This RER should make it possible to unclog the metropolis.

“From north to south, the network will work better and better, from Langon to Saint Mariens, it will cross the entire conurbation, comments Alain Anziani, president of the metropolis.

One of the reasons for congestion comes from the fact that 51% of journeys in the metropolis are made by people who do not live there”.

The reopening of the Médoquine station in Talence in 2025 must also be an important step for this RER to come to life.
