A 50-year-old woman was held captive for several hours in a villa under construction in Grau d'Agde, Hérault.

It was by spotting a vehicle declared stolen, late Wednesday afternoon, by the victim's daughter that the police traced the kidnappers to the victim.

The 57-year-old man, arrested at the wheel of the stolen car, then explained to the police officers of the anti-crime squad the reason why he was driving this vehicle.

With his 32-year-old son, he had kidnapped his owner a few hours earlier.

He wanted to force her to repay several thousand euros that she allegedly stole from her ex-partner, the brother of her kidnapper.

Threatened with an electric screwdriver

In an attempt to extort the sum of money from him, the victim had been tied to a chair and gagged, and threatened with the help of an electric screwdriver in particular.

Armed with the address where the woman was being held, the police then arrested the second kidnapper.

But inside the villa, the police did not find any trace of the woman… who had taken advantage of a moment of absence from the two men to detach herself and flee.

Found wandering in the street by the police, she still wore a piece of adhesive tape around her neck.

The ex-partner denies having a link with this sequestration

The brother and uncle of the kidnappers was arrested at his home in Florensac.

If he explained to the investigators that he had mentioned this theft of money to members of his family, he denied having any connection with this kidnapping.

All three were indicted for kidnapping and forcible confinement and remanded in custody.
