One week ago, the Swedish government announced that it was supporting the Ukrainian military with, among other things, helmets, body protection and armor shots.

And now the equipment has arrived.

- The transports have been completed, material and equipment are in place, says Commander-in-Chief Micael Bydén in SVT's Agenda.

May lead to backlash

He believes that Sweden's security situation has deteriorated over time, but that the war in Ukraine means a completely new situation.

- The Western world's agreement to support Ukraine will involve counter-reactions from the Russian side, it is quite obvious.

There is reason to be very vigilant about what is happening and not rule anything out, says Bydén.

Examples of counter-reactions include threats, discrediting of people, sabotage, subsidies, advocacy campaigns and information operations.

During the week, Swedish airspace was violated by four Russian fighter jets while Sweden and Finland had a joint military exercise in the Baltic Sea.

Wants us to "tremble on the cuff"

It is no coincidence that the Russian side flies in these areas, says Micael Bydén.

However, he wants to raise the risk of incidents when acting in the same area.

- It is enough with a misjudgment or that someone takes in a little too much, it goes from an incident to something much worse, he says.

Apart from that incident, the Armed Forces sees no further special Russian military activities near Sweden's borders.

Bydén believes that the Russian side probably wants to point out that they know what we are doing.

- Probably they want us to start shaking on the cuff, but we do not.

We were on site, we will be on site next time and mark that this is Swedish territory, he says.
