With our special correspondent in Abidjan

,

Frédéric Garat

Masa is to performing arts what

Fespaco

and to the world of African cinema, an unmissable event to take the pulse of creation and judge what is best in terms of storytelling, circus, theater or even of music.

Sectors seriously shaken in the past two years by the pandemic, during which they were rare and very little silver.

To draw the curtain on the drama of

Covid-19

, this year the organizers have decided to focus the theme of Masa around the "

content challenge

".

What message do we carry through a song in Bambara?

What is the artistic intention in a dance step?

What concept is supported in a theatrical production?

“, should we understand.

Apart from the form that counts, what does the show bring to a society in need of reference points and reflections?

To think about it, multiple performances will be given at the Masa for a week.

The Circus Baobab company from Conakry, the Cameroonian tales of Show Azouzou, the Burkinabe dancers of the Farafina Ballet or even Dji Eka.

The fighter woman of Côte d'Ivoire, who, on March 8, should remind with great drumbeats what are the rights of women, whether they are artists or not.

The Masa will last until March 12 in Abidjan.
