The woman who was charged with the murder of a man in his 30s was today sentenced to six months in prison for murder.

- Even if the act was caused by a certain compassion, according to the district court, there is no room to compare it with a so-called mercy murder.

There has therefore been no reason to sentence to a lighter sentence than what is prescribed for manslaughter, says councilor Amanda Rörby in a press release after the verdict.

The prosecutor demanded a long prison sentence

During the last day of the trial, prosecutor Maria Lundberg, aged 12-14, demanded a long prison sentence for the woman.

She claimed that the man should not have had the ability to understand that he would die if he took the tablets and that the act is therefore to be judged as murder.

The woman herself says that the man wanted to commit suicide and that was why she gave him a larger amount of tablets.

She claims she was the only one who knew what he wanted.

Found dead in his bed

It was on November 11 last year that a man in his 30s was found dead in his bed in Gislaved municipality.

Shortly afterwards, a woman was arrested in the vicinity of the man who has since been in custody.

The woman has denied the crime but has admitted that she gave the man access to a larger amount of prescription medicine and said "if you take these you will become an angel".
