Three police officers traveling in a patrol car were attacked this Wednesday evening in Saint-Gratien (Val-d'Oise).

They were targeted by fireworks mortar fire as well as stone throwing and other projectiles.

The officials were injured by one of the explosive devices,

Two victims in hospital

They were treated by firefighters and two of them were hospitalized.

Aged 36 and 43, they suffer respectively from burns in the upper part of the back and from tinnitus.

The injuries were caused by the explosion of a mortar inside the car after the police opened one of the doors.

Seeing that a dozen people approached their car to attack them, the officials left the scene and alerted reinforcements.

The perpetrators of the violence, however, had disappeared when the police arrived.

An investigation was opened and no arrests had been made on Thursday.
