The text that Kiev had put on the table condemns the human rights violations resulting from the Russian aggression.

And asks for the dispatch of a fact-finding mission.

Decision for the moment very symbolic, but which shows the growing isolation of Moscow as the war intensifies.

The resolution has been watered down slightly.

For example, there is no longer any question of mentioning the abuses in Donbass and Crimea.

But the text still calls for the withdrawal of Russian troops and their allies from all the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.

Which means including in separatist areas.

Evidence

Investigators must collect evidence of human rights violations for future trials.

Even if we do not yet know when and how they will be able to work.

But what should be remembered from the resolution is perhaps less its content, which is still very theoretical, than the result of the vote.

While China, Venezuela and Cuba had opposed, a few days ago, even holding an urgent debate on Ukraine, this time they abstained.

Leaving Russia to vote “no” with only Eritrea.

Act of dissent

After the vote, the Ukrainian ambassador addressed the Russian and Belarusian diplomats, encouraging them, implicitly, to make an act of dissidence.
