The former Malian rebels who notably control the city of Kidal (north-east) are raising their voices.

With our correspondent in Bamako,

It was after an extraordinary meeting in their stronghold of Kidal (located in the northeast of Mali) that the ex-rebels made the two press releases public.
Calling for mobilization in their ranks, they invite the Malian government to “
clarify its position in relation to the application of the Algiers peace agreement.

Sluggish application
For them, the application of the agreement on the ground is sluggish.
And it is the fault, they say, of a partner opposite, that is to say of the State.
Yet, continues the same statement, the agreement is the only instrument that binds the two parties.
It must be said that the latest outings by transitional government officials on the subject were not appreciated by the ex-rebels.
Independence ideas
In the same press release, the armed groups which still control part of the national territory reiterate "
their attachment to the unity and the right to self-determination of the people of Azawad
".
So independence ideas are back on the table.
Negotiation technique or new inclinations?
The future will tell.
In the meantime, associations supporting the Malian power have criticized - in press releases - these outings of the ex-rebels from northern Mali.
