At a cabinet meeting on the 4th, the government revised the law to include the introduction of a "judicial review" in which the court judges the necessity when the child guidance center separates the abused child from the guardian. I decided on a plan.

The number of cases that the child guidance center responded to when children were abused by their parents has been increasing year by year, and last year it was about 205,000, the highest number ever.

In light of these circumstances, the government decided to set up a "Children's Family Center" for municipalities in order to strengthen the system for comprehensive consultation and support for child-rearing households in the revised bill such as the Child Welfare Act, which was approved by the Cabinet on the 4th. We impose an obligation to make efforts.

In addition, when the child guidance center separates abused children from their parents, they are obliged to request a "temporary protection letter" without the consent of their parents, and the court decides the necessity. "Judicial review" will be introduced.

Furthermore, as a requirement for local governments to appoint a child welfare officer who responds to abuse, etc., sufficient knowledge and skills are required, keeping in mind the newly created certifications.

In addition, we will abolish the age limit of 18 years old in principle and 22 years old at the longest for independence support for children and young people living in orphanages.

It also includes stricter re-registration of childcare workers whose registration has been canceled due to obscene acts on children.

The government is aiming to pass the amendment in the current Diet session.
