During Friday evening, the workshop "Dance for Ukraine" is organized at the Dance center in Örebro.

All dancers of all ages are welcome to participate in exchange for a registration fee, where the money goes directly to the UN refugee agency UNHCR.

The purpose is to support and show solidarity with all those who are currently suffering from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

For Charlotta Helgesen, who runs the Dance Center Örebro, it felt natural to take this initiative, when five years ago she was involved in starting up the collaboration with a dance school from the city of Ternopil in western Ukraine.

- It was 2017 that we got in touch.

Since then, I and a couple of the dancers from Örebro have been down there on two occasions.

Then we met at competitions and they also visited us here in Örebro.

So we have met regularly during these years and therefore we really want to help them now.

"Could just as easily have been me"

The last time the Ukrainian dancers visited Örebro was as late as December.

But for Charlotta Helgesen and the dancers at Dance center, it feels like it was a very long time ago.

- Two weeks ago, they lived exactly the same lives as us.

It feels very hard, it feels like it could just as easily have been me who was in the difficult situation, says Charlotta Helgesen.

In the clip, she tells more about Friday's workshop.
