It is interesting to see if the turnout in the early voting for the 20th presidential election, which started today (4th), will record an all-time high, greatly exceeding the previous election from the first day.

According to the National Election Commission, 3,865,243 voted by 1 pm out of a total of 44,197,692 electors in the early voting that started at 6 am today, recording a turnout of 8.75%.

This is the highest number in the same time period in the history of national elections since the local elections in June 2014, when advance voting was first applied to national elections.

As of 1 PM on the first day of early voting for the April 21, 2020 general election, the turnout was 5.98%.

As of the same time as the first day of early voting for the 19th presidential election in May 2017, the turnout was 5.8%.

This advance voting, which is held ahead of the March 9 presidential election, will be held for two days until tomorrow, and if the current trend continues, attention is being paid to whether it will be able to break the record of the 21st general election (26.69%), which was the previous highest early voting rate.

Prior to the 2017 presidential election, the early voting turnout was 26.06%.

Jeonnam (14.76%) had the highest early voter turnout by province as of 1pm today.

It was followed by Jeonbuk (13.04%) and Gwangju Metropolitan City (11.85%).

The lowest place was Daegu Metropolitan City (7.4%), and Gyeonggi Province (7.48%), Ulsan Metropolitan City (7.72%), and Incheon Metropolitan City (7.78%) were also relatively low.
