China News Agency, Beijing, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abdullahyan on March 2.
Abdullahyan said that the Iranian side is firmly committed to advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Iran and China.
The two sides should further consolidate political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and well implement the comprehensive cooperation plan between the two countries.
The Iranian side is willing to cooperate closely with the Chinese side and fully support China in successfully hosting the third Afghan Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Wang Yi expressed that China is willing to, in accordance with the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, work with Iran to promote practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields and continuously deepen China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
China will host the 3rd Afghan Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting in due course, in order to give full play to the advantages of neighboring countries, highlight the characteristics of neighboring countries, and play a positive role in the realization of long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Abdullahyan briefed on the latest progress of the negotiations on the resumption of the implementation of the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. He said that all parties have reached an agreement on most issues, and the Iranian side has made positive efforts to this end. It is hoped that all parties will pay attention to and resolve the legitimate concerns of the Iranian side.
The Iranian side appreciates the constructive role played by the Chinese side on the Iranian nuclear issue, and is willing to maintain communication and coordination with the Chinese side to jointly promote the negotiation for results.
Wang Yi said that the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue have reached the final juncture.
All parties should pay full attention to the settlement of the remaining issues, show flexibility to each other, seek reasonable solutions, make political decisions, and push for a successful conclusion of the negotiations.
China will continue to uphold justice and firmly advance the political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine issue.
